Cabin Romance!

Happy Friday, Yarnarinnas! 😘

Oh, I do wish I'd had a Cabin Romance at some point in my life, but no, so far it has not happened!
Mind you, now that I'm all grown up I'm not sure my Cabin Romance would be what most people think it would be.

My Cabin Romance ( let's imagine a weekend? ) would look something like this:

💓 Wifi/ Netflix
💓 A well stocked 'fridge.
💓 ALL of my fur-kids!
💓 My new Phillips Espresso Coffee Machine and Bean There organic/fair trade coffee beans.
💓 LOTS of Scheepjes Catona in ALL the colours.

Let me know what YOUR favourite Cabin Romance would look like (real or imagined).
We will pick the five "best" ( they're ALL the best, right? ) that really grab us ( our lovely Admins Noelene Sampey and Sandra Salas ) and the 5 Best Picks will each get the High Tea Extension for FREE plus a FREE pattern of your choice from any Designer of your choosing.

Colour Friday colours are:

Scheepjes Catona 50g

🐑 Shadow Purple 394
🐑 Brick Red 504
🐑 Antique Mauve 257
🐑 Silver Blue 528
🐑 Silver Greem 402
🐑 Mercury 074
🐑 Old Rose 408
🐑 Petal Peach 263

Wishing you a lovely, relaxing weekend!
You owe it to yourself to take care of YOU!

💓 Jen

  2. My Cabin Romance would definitely include Scheepjes Catona my dearest Hubby with his Ken Follet novel and his Game of Thrones series to keep him occupied and our beloved eleven year old Spaniel Lara aka Loosegoose to keep us company. I would have a well stocked fridge and munchie cubbord and because I believe in low and slow a cast iron pot in the oven with oxtail bubbling away. To take care of myself .... well .... my Karoo Vintage and no interruptions other than checking on the oxtail

  4. Cabin romance Tsssss. Lock me up and I turn mad. So I'm outside on the porch in a rocking chair with my work on my lap crocheting. Looking at my sons making a huge fire (as usual) and my animals around me. Lion trying to get on my lap.I'm working with Drops silk merino on a shawl in gorgeous purple blue shades as only Drops has.Good food and espresso next to me. Chocolate chips cookies a side. Smell of pine, the fire place lit at the colder evening and all of us playing games and laughing about each other sillyness.

  5. I know exactly where I’d like my cabin romance to be-La Push, WA. Close to the sea so could hear the waves, a big fire place roaring, and lots of blankets to cozy up under and read. *sigh*

    1. Wow, that sounds so restful and indeed, we do need to totally unplug from all our devices and just read a book! I've forgotten how much I used to enjoy doing that for relaxation! Thanks for the reminder! :-) xx

  6. My romantic cabin weekend would be somewhere warm, with a large porch looking out over fields of flowers, the tree line in the distance, the wildlife in view, the birds singing, a comfy chair, and my crochet near with plenty of yarn.

My weekend would be in the mountains in Mpumalanga, where the skies are blue and horizons far. Where silence reigns but for the cry of the fish eagle. Go for a picnic near the trout dam or stroll and listen to the baboons calling each other. Light a fire at night, have a night cap or crochet. Bliss

  8. My romantic cabin weekend would be in the Black Hills of South Dakota, USA. I have visited many beautiful places, but this area grabbed my heart as a child and has never let go. The winding, twisting roads in the most luscious forest that smells oh so delightful...the cabin on a quick moving stream..sitting on the porch and crocheting the day away - almost heaven :-)

  9. My romantic cabin weekend would in the summer in the mountains overlooking a pretty lake down below. An a frame cabin, with a good sized porch with pots of flowers, a porch swing and two rockers with side tables to hold my wip supplies. My darling hubby would be there, as well my beloved Shih-tzu, Sable, African Grey Parrot and cockatiel. I would finish my wip as I sipped on Bailey's (a cancer support blanket for my Mom). My next project would be made with Sheepjes Catona in Silver Blue, Silver Green and bridal white. Hubby would have his Black Velvet to make for very interesting evenings!

  10. My perfect Cabin Romance weekend would take place in an adorable cottage in the woods near a running stream that I can hear from the wrap-around porch. I would bring yummy coffee, cheesecake and chocolates for nibbling. In the morning, I would sit on the porch swing with my husband and a dog or two (or four!) listening to the stream while drinking my coffee. We would go for a walk in the woods dipping our feet in the stream afterwards to cool down. After some lunch, I would take a nap and then spend the rest of the afternoon crocheting while watching a movie. My husband would cook dinner while I continue to crochet. We would take another walk and then spend the evening snuggled on the couch with our four pups - hubby watching a movie and me crocheting again, of course, and drinking a glass of wine. I would read a little before bed and then we would repeat again the next day before returning to the "real world" Sunday evening.

  11. My dream romantic cabin weekend would include 2 cabins: one for me and my husband, and one for my crochet bff and our yarn. 😅

No, but as I’m such a chicken to leave my small kids; my husband has to stay home for this dream, haha. ☺️

I would love a weekend away with my dear friend Kay, crocheting and chatting the night away as two giggly schoolgirls bonding over yarn and tea. A fireplace is a must as one can never go without the mandatory roasting marshmallows when in a cabin!

This traditional Swedish kind of log cabin I have in mind is placed secluded in the woods overlooking a crystal clear lake (nothing romantic about dark muddy waters..) and a small river that flows down into it as the sound of water has always made me feel safe and relaxed.

The air would be crispy and light as we sit in our comfy hanging chairs sipping and stitching on our latest wips whilst the sun is slowly rising. Me with my vintage loving colors and her filled with modern brightness, two different peas in a pod but that’s how we roll.

And now I really want to go on this vacation for real... Need to call Kay and set it up! ;)

  12. My cabin romance would be in Tasmania, with a view of the ocean through a huge bay window. A nice fireplace with plenty of wood for cosy nights. A huge tv with Netflix, and a good music system with an abundant supply of music from the 60's and 70's. A well stocked fridge, with gourmet cheese and fruits. A good supply of my favourite Muscat from the Margaret River region in Western Australia. Lots of Catona yarns in all the colours, along with a set of clover hooks. Mmmmmmmm, solitary bliss :-)

  14. Mmmm, mine would have to overlook water and have a balcony. I’d take my German Shepherd fur baby and my 18 year old stubby tailed cat (my first baby and crochet buddy). Lots of scrummy yarn A digital radio, so obviously WiFi. Now, please don’t judge, I’d leave the husband and 4 year old twins at home!! Oh, and there’d be a hot tub

  16. Since we’re dreaming: I can see my husband and myself in some remote deluxe cabin with amazing view, it has wifi and a well stocked fridge, we’d cook a nice meal together and put on a movie while I take out my crochet project...
    yeah, I’d love that!

  17. I would be deep in the woods, full of flora and fauna, on a blanket, leaning up against an old tree, close to a babbling brook. My babies ( Emily, Milly and Papi my puppies) would be rooting around me and jumping in the brook now and then. I would be crocheting on one of my favorites and the music would be bird song and forest sounds.

  18. I've been so fortunate to have many cabin adventures. Food for the soul and energising. Romantic wouldn't be the word I would have chosen to describe them but if I think about it ,it's always been a love affair with nature. My beagle, my yarn ,my books and I have explored the Western Cape for a few years now. Always a little cabin somewhere in nature .A few that spring to mind are Misty Cliffs overlooking Aurora, Matroosberg Nature reserve ,Enjo in the Biedouw Valley , Maskam in Namaqualand. Sometimes a cabin near the sea but the mountains always call so strongly. Mountain walks, a good dog and a fire at night under the stars. Our little bit of heaven

  19. My cabin romance takes me off to the western coast of Ireland in April; close enough to ferry over to the Aran Islands for the day, yet still on the mainland, closer to so many more woolen mills and sheep farms! Balmy days and chilly nights; waking to the sound of the ocean and the seabirds; breakfasting on rich coffee, that heavenly Irish brown bread, smeared liberally with fresh butter, and farm-fresh eggs and sausage, all while snuggled up in a lovely hand-made shawl... Some days spent in peaceful solitude, stitching with those lovely, rich woolen yarns (I'm normally too scared to use, but for now I'd revel in them!!) and other days stitching in the company of those legendary fiber femmes on the islands, talking abut wool, cooking, and of course, men! Evenings I'd nip down to the local pub for a dram, and try to catch the eye of that dashing single fella who owns the sheep farm down the lane - maybe this is the evening he'll start up a little chat over a glass! And if not, there's one more warm cup of tea waiting to be brewed back in my cozy cabin before I travel to the Land of Nod... with my sheep farmer...

  20. My ferociously loved ebony fur baby, green eyes glowing, would accompany me to our secret hideaway along the shore. At once, we then delve into our stash of all the Scheepjes colors, arranging and rearranging. Jen's patterns beckon, and we settle into our favorite rocker next to the window for an evening of creativity. Our best friend would come over with her precious fur baby, and after tea and treats, we hug and talk and laugh until our sides ache and tears run down our faces. The fur babies purr in perfect contentment. Ahhhhh, such is life.
